Restaurants Lo Kosher - טרייף רעטאַוראַנץ

Shalom and Welcome!

I have some information which I think is of most interest to you! The following restaurants are not kosher. I think that they are not kosher and according to my investigation and experience there, I have concluded that indeed they are not kosher.

1. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf heads the list as number one non-kosher. I have had many complaints on Coffee Bean's kosher violations. It seems to be all about money and their kosher certification seems to be a sham. I finally was asked to leave Coffee Bean after my last complaint on their kosher violations. These include warming up pizzas in the microwave, permitting people to eat hot dogs from the street vendors inside the store, and outright using non-kosher ingredients to prepare their drinks. I was there, no one told me. I experienced the way Coffee Bean does business. The way I see it, a store that is kosher does not lend their utensils to the sandwich store next door or to the hotdog street vendors outside. A restaurant which is kosher does not prepare drinks with one hand and eat a hotdog with the other. A person that works at Coffee Bean is allowed to eat non-kosher food in the back, that is fine, but what is not fine is for these people to run back and forth to the back and grab a bite of their hotdog and prepare drinks while chewing their non-kosher hotdog meat items. It is also unacceptable for these people to use the Coffee Bean utensils and dishes to eat their outside food on them and then turn around and serve their food to unsuspecting customers on these same plates. The way I see it, if you are kosher you are kosher. If you are kosher, you are not just kosher when the people who follow the kosher rules are watching.

Kosher Los Angeles is one of the certification agencies for Coffee Bean. Kosher Los Angeles certification is not reliable and I know so because of back and forth communications I had with Kosher Los Angeles and their lack of regard for the situation. The last situation I reported to them went ignored by Kosher Los Angeles. These include many emails which went unanswered. In my opinion, you need to avoid any establishments which are certified by Kosher Los Angeles as being unreliable and for their show of such little regard for the customers of these establishments.

As I understand it, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is in control of Kosher Los Angeles, if not directly, indirectly. Kosher Los Angeles is proud to list Coffee Bean in their website as it is their greatest accomplishment. Anything that Coffee Bean says goes and Coffee Bean has a huge influence in their supervision and the ultimate outcome of any review of the Coffee Bean stores. As I understand it, Kosher Los Angeles answers to a different higher power - Coffee Bean. If Coffee Bean fires Kosher Los Angeles, Kosher Los Angeles losses a great deal. It only makes sense that Kosher Los Angeles and Coffee Bean are the same organization since one depends largely on the other more powerful one. Coffee Bean rules Kosher Los Angeles and thus this fact makes Kosher Los Angeles an unreliable koshering organization.

2. Langer's Deli

I was so excited when I realized that their was a kosher restaurant nearby. I looked them up online under "kosher restaurants" and they were the first to pop up. I went there and before I entered the restaurant I noticed their menu or menu items advertised on their window. I could not believe it. The food items they serve include everything from cheeseburgers to hot dogs wrapped with bacon strips.

3. Canter's

Does anyone know what kosher-based means? I know and it does not make sense. These people serve cheeseburgers in violation of all the kosher rules on a challah bread.
